Description
This fused glass suncatcher is approximately 5". It was cast in an original design, handmade mold using crushed glass called frit. The depth of color and intricacy of design is achieved through layering color and multiple kiln-firings. It hangs from a thin steel chain.
I love the repetitive, fractal quality of this shape. It, or something similar, has been used throughout the ages to represent the sun, the galaxy and the passage of time. It is a sister symbol to the spiral.
The thin dark purple line in this piece outlines the arms and then mimics the shape almost in opposition. The radiating blues and lavender serve to accentuate and draw together the painted pattern and the molded one.
This piece looks beautiful hanging in a window where it will catch the light and send color across the room, or as a wall accent. It can be hung on the wall with a nail or decorative hook.
