Description
This vase is made with four cast glass panels framing and supporting a drop out vase. It is 8.5" tall 8.5"x7.5" across the sides and the vase is 6" deep.
The two tall sides have the same pattern and the two short sides have complimentary patterns.
Panels and vase are all cast in handmade molds using frit. To acquire the intricate coloring, each panel is taken through three rounds of layering frit and fusing. They are each then ground smooth on the edges and ground to fit together, smoothly and snugly, and fired again.
The spiral pattern in the vase is also achieved through the layering of frit.
The panels are wired together with 22 gauge silver wire along the 4 connecting edges.
This is the first of a series of vases and bowls made with panels that interconnect to compliment and support the vessel. Some will use wire, some will connect with interlocking pieces.
